Andre Bernard, the public information officer for the Campbellton Fire Department, said firefighters were called to the store around 8:45 p.m. to deal with a small fire near a window box at the front door. He said the cause was not clearly known.

Firefighters were on scene for about a half hour.

Last week, police responded to an alarm call at the store for at least the fourth time in the last couple of months.

In the last year, the store has been broken into more than a half dozen times, with numerous weapons stolen. While a trio of suspects has been arrested for some of the break-ins and have appeared in court, numerous others are still being sought by police.

Anyone with information on the fire or any of the break-ins is asked to call the Campbellton RCMP at 506-789-6000 or go through CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
