Happy Thanksgiving!

Here’s to an adventure

Allegedly, I am scheduled to cook my first turkey. I haven’t been really asked, just told, that I had to do this. As it stands now I am issuing multiple warnings:

If you are invited, it’s not a free meal – expect to clean up the kitchen as I stand and watch;

Have money handy in case I make a complete fool of myself and the turkey, and have to send it away to really badly cooked turkey heaven.

Sounds reasonable enough, or at least that’s what I think. I’m hoping to have some beginner’s luck or better yet, a hidden gift of turkey cooking. If all else fails, the dessert is store-bought and should make up for the rest.

Fighting sick

Finally my head is no longer swimming in germy juices! And it was about time – it seems like a long time ago now since I’ve been my old self.

The virus that’s circulating invaded me, of course. I can never get away from the “it” bug and once I have it, it lingers for as long as possible. Not to my enjoyment. Maybe I have a germ welcome mat somewhere on me, and I just don’t know it.

Anyway, that’s my excuse (reason) for being absent so long.

Sporadic

As time passes it is becoming more and more obvious to me that I have an addictive personality. Luckily for me, the worst thing I am addicted to you is chocolate. Unfortunately for me, I can’t exactly translate my addictive to behavior to exercise. When it comes right down to it, I have self-diagnosed myself (without the help of Webmd) as a selective addiction behavioral subject. A fancy medical of saying I am not a gym person.

I have spent all summer on various television benders such as Jon and Kate plus 8, Cops, Wipeout and the current addiction is Mad Men. Well, whenever I got to have the remote anyway. If I would enjoy the gym even half as much as any of those shows, I would have no body fat to speak of. Heck, I might even have a book deal, an infomercial and press galore to explain “my secret” to success.

Maybe I should take the cartoon route and run after a chocolate bar I’ll never catch…

The wonders of fall

My favorite season of the year is just around the corner; the time of year where I get to wear nice jeans and cute shoes without compromise. It’s cool enough outside for a nice jacket and scarf, but not cold enough yet that I have to hide every part of my body except my eyes to stay warm. I guess what I am trying to say can be summed up like this: I still get to look good and feel good and not look like the Michelin man.

Although I am not quite ready to say goodbye to summer just yet – as we have not really had one. I didn’t get to spend much time at the beach, and I doubt there will be another opportunity presenting itself anytime soon. All the swimwear I acquired (on sale) will have to wait months before they get paraded out in the sunshine.

I look forward to see the leaves change colors, although it seems this process is starting a little too early. Without a doubt it makes a breathtaking landscape, and with the many parks and trails in Fredericton, I definitely will need to take my evenings for walking and viewing.

I’m _________ in the rain

If you answered washing my truck – you would be absolutely correct.

I was lucky the other night to catch a rare glimpse at an endangered species: the stupid person. (Yes there should be plenty of sarcasm surrounding this thought and any additional text that follows this.)

On this night the creature decided it was time to make his mode of transportation prettier and shinier than it was. At about 11 o’clock in pouring rain, there would be no better time in the history of the world to wash his truck. I sat at the red light watching in wonder trying to understand the thought process behind that action. I came up with nothing. I still can’t come up with anything. To paint a better picture I should point out that he was hosing off the soap suds with a garden hose; in the pouring rain.

In the light of the following day I couldn’t help but to drive by there again and take a look at the masterpiece less than 24 hours after its creation. Despite having Mother Nature to lend a hand, he still missed a spot.

Should have known better

Despite the knowledge that today is the first day of school; I still managed to be stuck in traffic for a little longer than usual this morning. I didn’t anticipate such an increase in the level of traffic. It doesn’t help that today was also the first day back to work for some.

Considering all those factors, I guess I really can’t complain too much about the extra 10 minutes of bumper-to-bumper traffic on the bridge. And I will know a lot better tomorrow!

Have a good first day :)

Questions no more

Recently one of my wishes came true and I got my iphone. Since then my life has completely changed. (Ok, maybe I am exaggerating just a little, but that’s the story I’m sticking with.) Since I am too cheap to actually buy additional applications for the phone, I have spent quite some time researching and downloading what is free.

My phone is now equipped with a flashlight for when I’m in the dark and a level for when I need to know if something is level. (Mike Holmes would be so proud.) I realize that the likelihood of me using any of the applications are slim to none, but hey, they were free.

I was very grateful to find a couple of applications I now can’t live without; my application for building grocery lists and of course, the Magic 8 Ball application. I will now be able to build grocery lists and shop more effectively without forgetting anything. Life is beautiful. My future is no longer vague, any questions I have, my Magic 8 Ball with answer. Although we did get off to a rough start with it demanding for me to ask again later. After a little break it was more than happy to cooperate.

Is construction season over yet?

Every morning and every night brings upon a new opportunity for creativity: finding a new way to get to the desired location. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy all things creative, just not first thing in the morning and when I want to go home after a day of work.

With the first day of school just around the corner and the increase of traffic because vacation time in near over, I am afraid my cranky levels might just go up in the next few days. I am certain I am not the only one with dangerous levels of cranky – and I am not even driving!

The sun is out

Finally, a weekend to look forward to! With all the rain and the cold air that’s been lingering around us recently, it should be more than nice to enjoy the great outdoors once again – and maybe make a special trip to the beach… Enjoy :)
